President’s Welcome:
On behalf of Beta Alpha Rho Pre-Law and Public Service Fraternity at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, I welcome you to our fraternity’s official website.
Beta Alpha Rho at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor is a community of over 75 members dedicated to public service, excellence, and the development of an enriching community. BAR is special because we are truly a family. Through the connections we form with one another, we are able to host events aligned with our three pillars, and provide high quality professional development opportunities, all while being there for each other every step of the way.
Our three pillars are professionalism, philanthropy, and community. From speaker panels with our alumni to our annual fall retreat, Beta Alpha Rho offers each member opportunities for personal and professional development in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment.
Here in BAR, it is our top priority that every member and potential new member feels welcome and included in our community. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are the pinnacle of our organization. From implicit bias training to our annual “We’re Not Really Strangers” event, we are constantly discussing ways to better implement DEI in our work, both as individuals and members of BAR.
I joined BAR during winter semester of my sophomore year. As a student new to the pre-law track, I was looking for a community that could lend a steady balance of personal and academic support. I can confidently say that joining BAR has been one of the best decisions I’ve made during my time at Michigan. Each member of BAR brings authenticity, drive, and support like no other. Whether I have a professional development question or just simply need a friend, I always have someone to turn to. BAR didn’t just give me another student organization to be a part of—it gave me a home.

Professionalism
Professional development is the main component of our fraternity. Everyone in our fraternity receives individualized professional development from new members to graduating seniors. We offer a variety of professional development events including speakers, workshops, office hours, study tables, and more!

Philanthropy
BAR emphasizes service to our members and is always looking at ways to give back to our local community. We participate in many different types of philanthropy events, such as fundraisers, 5ks, DP Day, blanket making, card making, and more!

Community
We pride ourselves on creating a family-like atmosphere in our fraternity by fostering close relationships. BAR has many different types of social events, including tailgates, potluck dinners, and more. Also, every new member is assigned a mentor who guides their transition into the fraternity.
