Secretary: Melanie Cruz

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

About Melanie:

Melanie is a junior majoring in Sociology and Latino/a studies. She hopes to pursue a career in criminal justice or corporate law.

"Coming into such a large university as a first-generation student and daughter of Mexican immigrants, I knew I needed to find community on campus. I wanted to find a space where I could not only make friends, but connect with people who have similar goals as mine. Rushing BAR my freshman year has been one of the best decisions I could have made for my college career. Through BAR, I have found people who constantly uplift one-another in such a competitive area of study. Through connecting with fellow peers and professionals, I have become more secure in my post-college aspirations. BAR has given me the confidence to pursue the legal field, and know that I have a support system to lean back on. Giving back to this community on the executive board is an honor and a privilege."

Outside of BAR, Melanie is involved in La Casa and the Latinx Undergraduate Legal Association.

Fun Fact: Melanie enjoys going to concerts, sightseeing, trying new coffee spots, and can play the accordion!
